SMS opt-in

Memento Mori sends optional weekly reminder text messages. Consent is collected on this website, in the signed-in reminder settings, through a standalone checkbox that is unchecked by default. SMS consent is never a condition of creating an account or of any purchase — email reminders are the default and remain available to everyone.

Where the opt-in lives

The opt-in form is inside a personal account, because the reminders are calculated from the date of birth stored in that account. Anyone can create a free account at getmementomori.com/signup — no payment and no phone number are required to sign up. The consent checkbox is then shown during onboarding and permanently under Settings → Reminders. Because that page is behind login, the exact same live component and a screenshot of the real screen are reproduced below.

How you opt in

  1. Step 1

    Create a free account

Sign-up asks only for an email address and password. No phone number is requested and no SMS consent is collected at this stage.
  2. Step 2

    Open reminder settings

In onboarding, or later under Settings → Reminders, you choose the delivery method. Email is selected by default; SMS is a separate toggle.
  3. Step 3

Enter your mobile number and tick the consent box

Turning SMS on reveals a mobile number field with the consent checkbox directly beneath it — separate from Terms acceptance, account creation and any purchase. It starts unchecked and the form refuses to enable SMS until it is ticked. Nothing is sent to a number without a stored consent record.
  4. Step 4

    Receive one confirmation message

After you save, a single confirmation SMS is sent. You never need to text START.

The live opt-in field and checkbox

This is the actual component used in the signed-in opt-in form, rendered here disabled and unchecked exactly as a new user first sees it (consent text version 2026-09-08.v1).

Mobile number

Optional. You can skip SMS and choose Email reminders instead.
